Calea Victoriei, the “Avenue of Victory”, runs north from the Dâmbovița through the heart of the city, and walking it is the best introduction to Bucharest. Along the way you pass the CEC Palace, the National Museum of History, the Macca-Villacrosse Passage, Revolution Square, the Athenaeum and the Enescu Museum. On summer weekends, parts of it are closed to cars and fill with walkers, music and café tables.
Why it's on our list
- The city’s history in one street
- Palaces, museums and churches
- Car-free on summer weekends
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Calea Victoriei before you go.
