Bran Castle, on a rock above the mountain pass about 30 kilometres from Brașov, is the castle everyone calls Dracula’s. The connection with Vlad III is a legend, but the castle is wonderful: narrow stairs, wooden rooms, towers and courtyards, and the rooms of Queen Marie, who loved it. Go early to avoid the crowds.
