King Michael I Park, still widely known as Herăstrău, wraps around a large lake in the north of the city. There are long lakeside promenades, gardens, a Japanese garden, boats and pedal boats to hire in summer, and terraces and restaurants on the water. Come on a summer evening, when the whole city seems to be here.
Why it's on our list
