Old Romania in a park

About National Village Museum

Founded in 1936 by the sociologist Dimitrie Gusti, the Village Museum brings together hundreds of wooden houses, churches, windmills and farm buildings from every region of Romania, set among the trees on the shore of the lake. Wander the paths and peer into the houses, and look out for craft fairs at weekends.

Why it's on our list

  • Houses, churches and mills from across Romania
  • Founded in 1936
  • On the lake shore in the park

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with National Village Museum before you go.
