The Museum of the Romanian Peasant is one of the most original museums in Europe. Instead of rows of glass cases, it tells the story of village life through icons, textiles, pottery, crosses and even whole wooden houses, with handwritten labels and great sensitivity. It was named European Museum of the Year in 1996. Look in the shop for traditional crafts.
